This Priority Axis aims to improve and strengthen Malta’s mitigation and adaption measures (strategies) in response to climate change as well as measures intended to ensure the best and efficient use of available resources. 

The financial allocation for this Priority Axis amounts to €121,000,000 of which €102,850,000 are Community Funding (Cohesion Fund). 

Operational Objectives

The specific development objective of Priority Axis 4 is to promote mitigation and adaption measures to the effects of climate change together with the promotion of sustainable resource efficiency for increased competitiveness and an enhanced quality of life: The operational objectives of this Priority Axis are:

1. To undertake studies in areas related to the objectives of the Priority Axis;
2. To promote measures resulting in best use of available resources;
3. To promote the use of RES and energy efficiency measures at all levels of governance, including the public, the domestic and enterprise levels;
4. Reduction in the use of non-renewable energy sources;
5. To undertake investments intended to reduce GHG emissions.
